Building Your Social Media Team

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

I found this fascinating quote today:

Here are ten steps for building an internal social media team who will be responsible for the listening (monitoring and response) process, as well as reporting and measurement of social media activities.  I’ve written this about employees, but of course small staff organizations can include volunteers in this.socialfish.org, SocialFishing…, Oct 2009

The CVA

In the field of Volunteer Management, there is a credential called the CVA, certification in volunteer administration. You can read up on it here: http://www.cvacert.org/index.htm There are a few processes and sometimes your company will pay for it (since November 5 is International Volunteer Managers Day, it might be a good time to see if your CEO will honor your work by paying for this credential). Check it out!

What’s Your View?

The more volunteer administrators engage in the benefits of social networking, the more important it will be for us to realize the role volunteers/community members/the world plays in our social networking success. One thing that will be very important is to realize that all these people are partners in our efforts who empower our missions in the social networking world. Sometimes it can be tempting to see them from a singular lense and forget that they are actually driving much of the success we experience. Next time a volunteer and/or community member offers a social networking tip, take a moment to listen and see how you can partner with them in your endeavors. Shifting our focus can mean the difference between just average social networking efforts and profitable ones.
